I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC # 42435), having received my Masters from San Francisco State University in Marriage and Family therapy, as well as a BA, With Honors, from the University of California Davis. I am an active member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT.)
I have worked in a variety of settings during my career as a psychotherapist. Besides my private practice, I have much experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, in both school based and clinic settings. I particularly enjoy and have significant experience working with pre-adolescent and adolescent males. I believe that the psychological development of males in our society has many unique components, and that boys often learn to utilize strategies to cope with their emotional world in ways which can create problems, including anger, violence, lack of social connectedness, and substance abuse. In my experience, I believe that therapy can be effective in helping boys and young men learn new and more healthy ways of identifying with themselves and others.
I am also a father and a husband. I enjoy being physically active and have a love for sports and spending time in nature. I strongly believe in the connection of the mind and body, and often encourage clients to take a more active role in increasing self care through physical exercise and other methods.
